Jan. 6 pardons: Profiles in cowardice

IN THE NEWS: Many Republicans in Congress, as well as Vice President JD Vance, insisted there would be no wholesale pardons of people convicted of crimes committed during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in which police were attacked and brutalized. Yet, that is exactly what President Donald Trump did on his first day in office.
Now, most Congressional Republicans are displaying their cowardice by running from reporters and avoiding any criticism of their leader’s release of the violent criminals who acted on his behalf.
